Polly Tomlinson is an English multidisciplinary artist working from her studio in West Lancashire. Her practice is rooted in intuition shaped by a life lived at the intersection of art, healing, and the unseen.
Currently a painting student at TURPS Art School, London (2024-)
She has drawn and painted since early childhood. Raised by a single mother who was often unwell, drawing became an instinctive way to make sense of the world. At nineteen, her mother died, and the art school place she had earned quietly closed.
What followed was over twenty-five years as a healer. Polly trained as a classical & shamanic homeopath, medical astrologer, reiki master & yoga teacher, as well as facilitating women’s retreats. To date she has treated hundreds of patients and developed a deep understanding of both dis-ease and deep healing.
In her forties came the now-or-never moment for art school and the BA(Hons)Painting that followed led straight to an MFA(Fine Art) at Manchester Metropolitan University, completed in 2016 at 47. It was both a homecoming and a beginning.
Family has remained central throughout. Married with three grown children and growing grandchildren, Polly continues to practise as a healer alongside her painting. The balancing act is not something she regrets. It is the shape of a life fully lived and the painting, she will tell you, is only deepening.
Polly has collaborated and exhibited in painting, sculpture, and installation in both the UK & internationally.
